By doing some changes of units, we will see that:

a) You should turn around and charge some gas, because is likely that you will not arrive to the next gas station.

b) The cost un US dollars is $11.349

<h3>Will you make to the station before you run out of gas?</h3>

We can say that your car gets 15.5 miles per gallon (I used the middle value of the two given ones) and it holds 18.6 gallons (but is one quarter full), so the maximum distance that it can travel is:

D = (18.6/4 gal)*(15.5 mi/gal) = 72.075 miles.

And we know that 1 mi = 1.61 km, then the distance in kilometers is:

72.075 miles. = 72.075*(1.61 km) = 116.04km

This is a little less than the distance to the next gas station (117 km) so it is risky to try to get there.

  • If your car does 16 miles per gallon, you will reach the station.
  • if your car does 15 miles per gallon, you will not reach the station.

So it is a better idea to turn around and charge gas.

b) If you want to fill up, then you need:

(3/4)*18.4 gallons of gas.

In Canadian dollars, the cost will be:

(3/4)*18.4*$1.069 = $14.752

And we know that:

1 us dollar = 1.3 Canadian dollars.

Then to get the cost in US dollars, you need to divide the cost by 1.3,

$14.752/1.3 = $11.349

The cost to fill the tank, in US money, is  $11.349

On the provided graph, select the locations of the x-intercepts of the following polynomial function. x^3-7x^2-26x+72
matrenka [14]

Answer:

The x-intercepts are the points (-4,0). (2,0) and (9,0)

The location of the x-intercepts in the attached figure

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The x-intercepts of a function are the values of x when the value of the function is equal to zero

we have

f(x)=x^{3}-7x^{2}-26x+72

using a graphing tool

The x-intercepts are the points (-4,0). (2,0) and (9,0)

see the attached figure
