Once you have chosen a topic, you must conduct research in order to write your paper accurately. However, if your paper is a personal narrative, for example, you do not need to conduct research. In this case, your next step is to create an outline so that you can organize your paper. If it is a paper that needs research, you cannot develop an outline until you have researched, learned and understood your topic.
