Wellness consists of 6 different dimensions-physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, social, and environmental.
Emotional, occupational, physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual wellness are the six dimensions of wellness promoted by the National Wellness Institute. A holistic sense of wellness and fulfillment is created in our lives when we take care of all six facets of wellness.
This interdependent model for the Six Dimensions of Wellness was created by Dr. Bill Hettler, a co-founder of the National Wellness Institute (NWI), and it provides the categories from which NWI draws its resources and services.
These principles are supported by the National Wellness Institute's definition of wellness, which has been around for a while and states: "Wellness is an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence."
