The lines from the poem that best convey this thought are:

 • "The world no longer let me love, / My hope and treasure lies above."
 • "Raise up thy thoughts above the sky / That dunghill mists away may fly."

What are the ideas from this poem?

The ideas from these lines clearly show that the author was now choosing to refocus on her values. Instead of dwelling so much on the earthly things that she had lost during the sad incident, she was now choosing to put all of her hopes toward God who lived in heaven.

This can be seen in phrases such as: "My hope and treasure lies above" and "Raise up thy thoughts above the sky." In this poem, Anne Bradstreet reflected on the time when she lost all of her prized possessions.

Instead of losing hope and falling into depression, she looked up to her creator whom she believed will help her to surmount her challenges. This approach gave her succor and provided her with the strength to overcome her challenges.
