Father Charles E. Coughlin was a Catholic priest who used mass rallies and radio broadcasts to reach a wide audience. Coughlin was an outspoken opponent of the political establishment and openly antisemitic. Much of Father Charles Coughlin's vehement criticism of the Roosevelt administration centred on A. labour's right to join in unions and B. providing public relief jobs to women with children. Coughlin became increasingly hostile to Roosevelt, accusing him of being a puppet of Wall Street; Coughlin fought the New Deal with increasing vehemence; his radio programs assailed Roosevelt and capitalists, and he claimed the existence of Jewish conspiracies.
