Answer:

Osteocytes and layers of extracellular matrix, which are concentrically clustered around a central canal, for a cylinder-shaped unit are called osteons.

Bone tissue may be of two types; compact bone tissue that form the outer hard covering of bones and spongy bone tissue that form inner soft portion of bone. Osteon are found in compact bone.

Osteons are cylindrical structures composed from clustre of Osteocytes and layers of extracellular matrix around a central canal connected by canaliculi for the transportation of blood. The haversian canal is surrounded by lamella that comprises the osteon. Osteons run parallel to long axis of bones and present in bones of many mammals, reptiles and birds. In some bones the stress or pressure in applied from few directions and osteons are aligned in that direction so they provide protection from bone bending or fracturing from compressive forces.

The extracellular matrix provide bone strength surrounding osteocytes.

What are the function of extracellular matrix of osteocytes ?

Bone tissue can be up two types such as compact bone tissue which is responsible for hardness of outer region and spongy bone tissue which form inner soft region of bone, Osteon are present in compact bone.

The extracellular matrix contains growth factors which decide the time when cell division, helps to control when new blood vessels will form to serve the tissue, the cells of the tissue interact with the outer environment through the extracellular matrix.

It also serves to guide cell movement within the tissue, make sure that the cells do not migrate outside of the tissue, creation of stem cells that lead to the development of specialized cells.

The extracellular matrix is surrounding osteocytes are mainly deposited by osteoblasts cells, secrete osteoid, the osteoid becomes calcified, it supports the osteocytes and helps to nourish them.

Animals lose heat through the surface areas of their skin. A small animal, such as a mouse, uses a much larger proportion of its
Goryan [66]

Answer:

Because of the difference in surface area to volume ratio

Explanation:

Surface are to volume ratio is the area of an object that is exposed to the external environment (surface area), compared to the amount within an object (volume).

Therefore an elephant has a lower surface area to volume ratio than a mouse.

The smaller an object is the greater its surface area to volume ratio.

Small animals have much more surface area per mass than large animals. With so much surface area, they lose heat very quickly. So, a mouse, with a lot of surface area per mass, must spend a lot more energy to stay warm than a large animal.

What is the purpose of an antibody? Group of answer choices to stick to an antigen, alerting your body of the presence of a fore
Alexandra [31]

Answer: Antibodies are proteins that are found in the body on the surface of red blood cells and in the blood plasma ,they are very sensitive to foreign bodies and bad viruses and bacteria, when they notice the presence of anything that poses harm or a threat to the body system, they track it down and fight/destroy it.

Antibodies also play crucial role in hemostasis(stoppage of bleeding) in the sense that when the body is wounded or when someone gets a cut antibodies that are found in the plasma and some substances found in the platelets are released to play a role in sending signal to the blood clotting factors in the blood to be released to arrest the bleeding and prevent the person from bleeding out their entire blood.
