The operant learning model applies to both social and asocial kinds of observational learning, which is the main distinction between Bandura's social cognitive theory and it. Bandura concentrates on cognitive processes in the social cognitive theory as well. The operant model uses modeled behavior and consequences to signal to the observer whether or not to repeat that behavior.
Two theories that attempt to explain learning—the process through which new information, attitudes, and behaviors are gained or existing ones are changed—are social learning theory and operant conditioning. Even while certain plants and animals can learn, social learning and operant conditioning are primarily concerned with human behavior. Both theories were developed in the middle of the 20th century and are a part of the larger behaviorist school of psychology, which emphasizes learned behavior while avoiding internal or spontaneous behavior.
Both theories seek to explain how learning happens, but they were put forth at different eras and by different people. They are all distinct from one another in how they approach learning and the fundamental ideas that make them up. The various techniques used to illustrate each type of learning are also distinctive.
