Find two media stories that represent different media but report on the same issue. You must write a 750- to 1,000-word essay co

mparing and contrasting the sources and analyzing the biases of the sources' creators. Your essay must objectively summarize each source before segueing into more analytical and evaluative sections in which you will make an argument and support it with evidence from the texts. You may choose any subject in the news that interests you.
Your sources may come from any of the media listed here. Please note that each of your sources must use a different medium. For example, you could use one video and one article.
Video news
News radio
Newspapers and magazines
Blog postings
Your essay should include the following elements:
A claim that says something overall about the objectivity or the bias of the sources
An introduction paragraph, body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph
An objective summary of both sources
In-text citations and a works-cited page

A sample of two media stories that represent different media but report on the same issue is:

<h3>Daily Trust</h3>

Hurricane Katrina has been a devastating natural disaster that ripped through everything in its path.

Its strong winds have bamboozled everything in its path and based on its current path, she is showing no signs of slowing down.

<h3>The Independent</h3>

Hurricane Katrina has been a strong hurricane with wind speeds of 190 mph and has been ranked as a Category 6 hurricane.

It has moved from Ohio to Denver and now is on a collision course to Philadephia where it has been predicted that its speed and magnitude would be about 150 mph.

<h3>What is a Media Story?</h3>

This refers to the story that is written about world happenings by tabloids, newspapers, reported by journalists, etc.

Hence, we can see that from the two samples given, we can see that the first one is vague and does NOT contain much information, but the second one has details such as the speed and magnitude, travel paths, etc.

BartSMP [9]

Answer:

I would say that the excerpt from this narrative that most clearly shows the reason why the author wrote it is the first one: <em>"The most important thing I learned that day, though, was that one person can have a big impact on others, even without realizing it."</em>

Explanation:

<u>I chose this option because here the speaker realizes how important it can be to have a model, and I think the whole idea for the writer to do it is to create impact in others.</u> The speaker understands how important it is to show and share good habits, kindness, etc. <u>He knows that, by giving the example, one's life can have a great impact on others and that it can be contagious</u>. He feels he can do good by sharing an experience like the one he is choosing to tell here.
