Answer: The rugged terrain, the fossils of large mammals, and the herd of bison are three things that would make Serena believe she was having a real adventure.

Explanation: Serena didn't seem to be taking the journey seriously, why? because she didn't find her destination particularly interesting. since the vacation didn't excite her. She didn't think there was any reason for her to go outside. Though her buddy insisted that they could have many adventures there, Serena was not finding the trip to be particularly thrilling. Even if she couldn't believe it, she did so after learning about the unforgiving landscape, the presence of fossils, and the sight of a herd of bison.

Read the excerpt below from the poem “Ulalume” by Edgar Allan Poe and answer the question that follows.
Deffense [45]
Alliteration: "<span> as the scoriac Rivers that Roll— As the lavas that Restlessly Roll" (the 'r' sound is being repeated at the beginnings of words)
</span><span>
assonance: "</span><span>In the ultimate climes of the pOle— That grOan as they rOll dOwn MOunt Yaanek In the realms of the bOreal pOle" (the vowel sound "o" is repeated throughout the words)
</span><span>
consonance: "o</span><span>f CypreSS, with PSyche, my Soul" (the consonant "s" sound is repeated at the beginning and ends of words)

These sound devices have a sing-songy effect on the poem which helps create the mystical and mysterious mood. It almost lulls the reader into a type of trance through the memory of the narrator.
</span><span>
imagery: "</span><span>As the lavas that restlessly roll Their sulphurous currents down Yaanek"
</span>
This strong imagery helps to bring the memories to life for the reader  and helps the reader relate to the mindset and the emotions of the narrator by providing images to compare them to. Comparing his heart bursting to the way lava flows down the side of a mountain creates a strong image.

List three examples of imagery from “when I was fair and young”
Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer:

Importune, Pine, and Scorn

Explanation:

When I was fair and young, then favor graced me.

Of many was I sought their mistress for to be,

But I did scorn them all and answered them therefore:

Go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more.

How many weeping eyes I made to pine in woe,

How many sighing hearts I have not skill to show,

But I the prouder grew and still this spake therefore:

Go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more.

Then spake fair Venus' son, that brave victorious boy,

Saying: You dainty dame, for that you be so coy,

I will so pluck your plumes as you shall say no more:

Go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more.

As soon as he had said, such change grew in my breast

That neither night nor day I could take any rest.

Wherefore I did repent that I had said before:

Go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more.
