That in order for the republican to succeed, it would require Civic Virtue, courage, and self governance.

During the American Revolution, he led the colonial forces to victory over the British and became a national hero. Two years later, Washington became America's first president. His actions established a powerful central government and helped put in situ a concept to repair the matter of the debt.

Washington had several characteristics, long before he was a frontrunner, that led naturally to his leadership style. Since there have been no sitting justices at the start of his term, the Chief Executive had the unique opportunity to fill all the empty seats within the Supreme Court.
