Women's roles changed in the past fifty years as women got many rights now from which they were deprived earlier.

However, if we say that women are equal to men then, it will not be true as  currently, women only enjoy 75% of the legal rights that men do. In 1970, it was less than half. Men are more privileged and possess more power and benefits than women do.

Today's women have it better, but they are still not on an equal footing with men. Women do not have same opportunities as men because of the discrimination of the patriarchal society.

Every city, North and South, where there are no available legal remedies, is ablaze with anger and strife. Redress is sought in public through rallies, marches, and demonstrations that incite hostility, endanger lives, and raise tensions.

Since Kennedy said, "I have vehemently opposed violent tension, but there is a form of constructive, nonviolent strain which is important for growth," the context clues, in this case, indicate that Dr. King, Jr. disagreed with that part of Kennedy's statement.

In conclusion, the correct option is D.
