If distance to the sun was the only factor in determining surface temperatures of earth and Venus then Venus would be warmer.

What is the temperature of Venus?

Venus rotates in the opposite direction to most planets. Venus is one of the hottest and brightest objects in the sky. On Venus, the temperature is constant day and night. Surface temperatures on Venus are about 900 degrees Fahrenheit.

It  because of the difference in the position of sun to Venus.  Planets which are closer to Sun has high temperatures on surface so it is obvious that the temperature of Venus will be more.
