The United Kingdom obtained Canada, all lands east of the Mississippi, and Florida. France ceded Louisiana to Spain, and Hanover was evacuated. The Treaty of Hubertus burg restored all of the signatories' (Prussia, Austria, and Saxony) borders to their 1748 status.

What is the impact of the Seven Years War?

 • To begin with, it meant a significant expansion of British territorial claims in the New World. France lost nearly all of its North American colonies, the most significant of which was the large territory of Canada.
 • France also lost all of its territory in India, a raw-materials-rich Asian country. Britain establishes a global trading empire but becomes deeply in debt. Colonial taxes equaled the American Revolution.
 • France is severely weakened and deeply in debt. The Seven Years' War arose from the Austrian Habsburgs' attempt to reclaim the province of Silesia, which had been taken from them by Frederick the Great of Prussia.
 • Overseas colonial struggles between the United Kingdom and France for control of North America and India also contributed to the war.
