The Scarlet Letter takes place in a Puritan town during the 17th century.

Summary of this novel:

The Scarlet Letter begins with a lengthy introduction to how the book was written. The unnamed narrator was a customs surveyor in Salem, Massachusetts. In the customs attic, he found many documents, including a manuscript bundled with scarlet gold embroidered cloth in the shape of an "A".

The work of an early surveyor, this manuscript details events that occurred some 200 years before the time of the narrator. When the narrator loses his customs post, he decides to write a fictional account of the events recorded in the manuscript. The Scarlet Letter is the final product.

The story begins in 17th-century Boston, then a Puritan settlement. A young woman, Hester Prynne, was brought out of the city prison with her little daughter Pearl in her arms and a scarlet "A" on her chest. A man in the crowd tells her elderly bystander that Hester is being punished for adultery. Her husband, Hester, a scholar much older than her, sent her ahead to America, but she never made it to Boston.

The Scarlet Letter takes place in a Puritan town during the 17th century.

Which describes a strategy for monitoring comprehension of a text?
Kryger [21]

Answer:

Asking questions during reading.

Explanation:

While an engaging text would be better for increasing the number of students willing to read, it doesn't figure out their comprehension level. Establishing a purpose for reading gives kids the will to read, but doesn't identify their comprehension. Choosing a text with complex characters provides more for readers to suck in, and can get confusing. This certainly doesn't help read their comprehension. Therefore, the answer is "asking questions during reading."

Based on "The Wild Swans at Coole," what view does William Butler Yeats hold of nature
Verdich [7]

Answer: In "The Wild Swans at Coole," Yeats view of nature is that it is timeless and beautiful.

Explanation: Although Yeats sees nature as timeless and beautiful, his view on the passage of time for man is less joyful, in fact the mood of the poem seems mournful. He writes about the loss of passion and love as time passes for man, with only nature and the swans being constant in their being. The swan's flight indicates that passage of time.
