It is the PLATT AMENDMENT.


The Platt amendment made Cuba a protectorate of the United States. It also negated Cuba's possibility to be in a treaty with another power. Apart from that it give the United States the right to supervise the Cuban finances. At last, the Platt Amendment ceded the military base at Guantanamo Bay to the U.S.

The amendment that made Cuba an American protectorate and forced Cuba to cede Guantanamo Bay to the U.S. was the Platt Amendment.

Passed in 1901, the Platt Amendment consisted of seven conditions for the withdrawal of American troops that were in Cuba after the Spanish-American War.
