Membrane proteins can move molecules against their concentration gradient by linking to another molecule's concentration gradient and utilising the energy of ATP hydrolysis.

There are two types of active transport mechanism in cell. In one also called as primary active transport, ATP molecule is used to transport molecules across the membrane against an electrochemical gradient. In the second type also called secondary active transport or co-transport it does not require chemical source of energy like ATP instead uses the gradient created by active transport as energy source to transport molecule across the membrane.

liraira [26]

Answer: it should be D.

Explanation: Because it is not correct, usually, evidence that is able to be taken, is then stored away in a so called box. It is also there for the court to use, but I’m quite certain they don’t throw the evidence away.

Drug-resistant populations of microbes arise when
lozanna [386]

Answer:

The correct option is D. Drug-resistant populations of microbes arise when  exposure to drugs selectively kills sensitive cells, allowing overgrowth of resistant cells.

Explanation:

Drug- resistance can be described as a mechanism through which an organism can overcome the effect of a drug.

Usually, exposure of a drug again and again to a population of microbes will make the microbes resistant to that drug. The cells of the microbes undergo some change to overcome the effect of that particular drug.

A population of drug-resistant microbes might occur when the sensitive microbes get killed by the drug and resistant strains remain alive.
