He highlights the military measures the British are taking, which has a rhetorical effect.

What is meant by Connotative language ?

The American Colonies experienced turbulence in 1775. Massachusetts was subject to heavy British restrictions as a result of the Intolerable Acts; communities were choosing to boycott British products; and British soldiers were showing up more often in the American Colonies. You will study a well-known speech by Second Virginia Convention delegate Patrick Henry (1736–1799) in this course.

Many of Henry's fellow delegates wanted to hold off on taking any action until the American Colonies' discussions with the British were concluded in 1775. Henry, however, believed that waiting would be a big mistake. He requested on March 23, 1775, that the Virginia Convention immediately adopt a defensive posture toward Great Britain by forming an armed company in each county of Virginia. This request was seen by many as plain treason. Henry made demands in his address that were considerably more radical than those of his fellow delegates in public, but he did so on the premise that the British would soon take even more forceful military action.

Read the excerpt from Act III of Hamlet.
gogolik [260]

The correct answer is by exploring human emotions.

Elizabethan drama placed a lot of emphasis on portraying human emotions, how people thought and felt about certain things. Shakespeare was definitely one of the authors who was best at doing that, through plays such as Hamlet, Macbeth, etc.

Religion wasn't that important during the Elizabethan era, so options B and D are incorrect. And if you read the excerpt, you will see that there is no mention of political policies, so C is also incorrect, thus leaving us with A.
