Sidney has 2 rectangular mirrors in her house. One mirror is 36 inches long and 24 inches wide. The other is 32 inches long and 21 1/2 in wide. A. What is the perimeter of the first rectangular mirror? B. What is the combined perimeter of both mirrors? C. What is the difference of both mirrors? D. If you wanted a mirror double the sides of the second mirror, what would be the new dimensions?

we know that

The perimeter of rectangle is equal to

P=2(L+W)

where

L is the length

W is the width

Part A. What is the perimeter of the first rectangular mirror?

we have

L=36 in

W=24

so

substitute

P=2(36+24)

P=120 cm

Part B. What is the combined perimeter of both mirrors?

Find the perimeter of the second rectangular mirror

we have

L=32 in

W=21 1/2 in=21.5 in

substitute

P2=2(32+21.5)

P2=107 in

so

the cpmbined perimeter is equal to

P=P1+P2

P=120+107=227 in

Part C. What is the difference of both mirrors?

Difference=P1-P2=120-107=13 in

Part D. If you wanted a mirror double the sides of the second mirror, what would be the new dimensions?

the original dimensions of second are

L=32 in

W=21 1/2 in=21.5 in

if you dobled the sides

L=64 in

W=43 in
