A middle point between ideational and sensate cultures is the idealistic culture.
What areidealistic, ideational and sensate cultures?
The ideational, idealistic, and sensate types of cultural integrations—the three main types—never exist in their purest forms; they are ideal types. As a result, Sorokin adds a Mixed category. The Ideational and the Sensate are the only two polar sorts of cultural mentalities that exist. The idealistic type combines the positive traits of the polar kinds without exhibiting their negative traits.
According to the extreme Sensate worldview, reality is limited to what can be perceived by the senses. It is agnostic or atheist. It does not worry about the unchanging or unalterable because it thinks that everything is undergoing change. The control of the observable world for the purpose of receiving physical gratification is its fundamental aim. Its method of knowledge is empirical.
Reality is an immaterial, eternal Being, according to the ideational mentality. Its goals are spiritual, and the methods it uses to accomplish them involve man adapting to the world as it is rather than trying to change it to suit his needs. Its paths to truth are revelation and faith.
Ideational and Sensate components combine to form the Idealistic mentality, with Ideational aspects dominating. It adds reason as a means of acquiring knowledge, combining the best aspects of the other two mentalities. According to the Idealistic perspective, faith and sensory perception are at the lower points of an epistemological triangle, with reason serving as the type of apex. Sorokin has an idealistic outlook on life.
To know more about idealistic, ideational and sensate cultures:
In agricultural and feudal societies gender roles were clearly distinct than the tribal and nomadic societies. Agricultural societies were mixed in to the mainstream world but they follow the gender disparity from childhood and they delineate the roles between the girls and boys and restrict the with in inner circle. Nomadic societies lived in seperate region and they voluntarily isolated from mainstream society and gender disparity is less when compared to agricultural societies. Industrialisation and urbanisation reduced the gender disparities and maintain the gender equalities.
