What kind of reaction did the British provide to the Boston Tea Party and Massacre?

In response to the Boston Tea Party, the British placed even stricter regulations on the Massachusetts colony. The Coercive Acts amended the colonial charter of Massachusetts, granting the royally chosen governor greatly enlarged powers, imposed fines for the stolen tea, and dispatched British troops to Boston.
