In the story "Lamb to the Slaughter" The dramatic irony leave a great deal of impact ton the minds of the readers.

The wife wanted to cook a steak of lamb to her husband when he came home from work. But when he came home he sat her down and told her that he is going to leave her, although will her her living expenses as she was pregnant but will not stay with her any longer.

After hearing this from her husband she became hurt and angry with his words and thus with the steak of lamb that she decided to cook she ended up killing her husband. Later when the policemen came to collect evidence from the crime scene she cooked the meat and offered it to the policemen who ate it scrumptiously.
