Subcellular organisms that are among the smallest known disease-causing microorganisms are called viruses.

In the field of biology, a virus can be described as a tiny microbe that can replicate itself using the host machinery. Outside a host organism, the virus cannot replicate. Scientists still debate whether to consider viruses as living or non-living structures. They are smaller than all other microorganisms.

A virus is an infectious agent which can even kill the host organism when uses its replication machinery. Viruses are known to cause various diseases in plants, animals, fungi, and humans.

The structure of a virus is simple, consisting of a DNA or RNA which is encapsulated by a protein structure known as a capsid. An envelope is an additional structure that may be present in some of the viruses. Examples of viruses include the tobacco mosaic virus, herpes virus, influenza virus, etc.

Which factor influences evolution the most, large territory, strength, passing on genes, or surviving the longest? Explain.
yKpoI14uk [10]

Answer:

Passing on genes

Explanation:

An organism adapts to their environment over time. When they reproduce, they pass on those adaptations to their offspring. Evolution happens as more organisms adapt and then pass on that adapted gene to their offspring. I really hope this helps you!

The cholera toxin causes intestinal cells to pump out their chloride ions
xz_007 [3.2K]

Answer: This bacterium can survive passage through the acidic conditions of the stomach. Inside the small intestine, V. cholerae attaches to the intestinal wall and starts producing cholera toxin. The toxin enters intestinal cells, causing them to release water and ions, including sodium and chloride ions.

If a sample originally had 120 Adams of carbon 14 how many atoms will remain after 17,190 years
adelina 88 [10]

Answer:

15 atoms

Explanation:

About 15 atoms out of the 120 Adams would remain.

Generally, the half-life of a substance is the time it takes for one-half of that substance to disintegrate.

Carbon 14 has a half-life of approximately 5,730 years. 17,190 years means that the sample had stayed for 17,190/5,730 which is equal to 3 carbon-14 half-lives.

Out of 120 Adams,

 • the first half-life will reduce 120 to 60 Adams
 • the second half-life will reduce 60 Adams to 30 Adams
 • the third half-life will reduce 30 Adams to 15 Adams.

Hence, at the end of the 17,190 years, approximately 15 Adams would remain.

Given a population that contains genetic variation, what is the correct sequence of the following events under the influence of
natali 33 [55]

The correct option is (a) 2 → 4 → 1 → 3

A change occurs in the environment. → Poorly adapted individuals have decreased survivorship. → Well-adapted individuals leave more offspring than do poorly adapted individuals. → Genetic frequencies within the population change.

What is genetic variation in population?

 • The presence of various alleles, or different gene versions, within a population indicates genetic variety.
 • If there is genetic variation, then everybody in the population will have various genotypes depending on the alleles they carry.
 • Genetic loci that have many alleles are said to be polymorphic. Human characteristics like blood type and eye color, for instance, are polymorphic.
