What is the most interesting or surprising thing you learned about how human population growth affects the environment?

Biology

Numerous effects of human population growth on the Earth system include: Increasing energy production from the ecosystem. These resources include minerals, plants, water, and fauna, particularly in the oceans, as well as fossil fuels (oil, gas, and coal).

- Human population affects the environment in the following ways :

1. Deforestation -

- Deforestation exacerbates the greenhouse gas issue by reducing the ability to collect CO₂. Loss of habitat and extinctions are also closely correlated with deforestation. As was already mentioned, over 80% of worldwide deforestation is caused by agriculture. A further 14% is linked to logging, 5% to the collection of firewood, and the other 14% results from various reasons.

- All of these pressures on deforestation are tied to the growth of the human population. We require more food, wood products, and firewood as the population grows.

2. Climate change -

- Climate change and human population increase have been growing concurrently as fossil fuel use has exploded to maintain industrialized nations. The need for oil, coal, gas, and other energy resources mined from below the Earth's surface that release carbon dioxide (CO₂) into the atmosphere when burned and trap warm air within like a greenhouse increases as the world's population rises.

- The majority of fossil fuel consumption is in developed nations. It is alarming to consider that most developing countries strive to have industrial economies similar to ours as they experience economic expansion, which increases atmospheric CO₂ emissions.

- Another significant factor in greenhouse gas emissions is deforestation. On a worldwide scale, forests absorb more than twice as much carbon dioxide as the atmosphere does. An estimated 13% of all greenhouse gas emissions are attributed to the burning and clearing of forests, which releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

3. Freshwater loss -

- Even though there is a lot of water on the world, it is a highly limited resource. Fresh water makes up only 2.5% of the world's water resources, and only a tiny portion of it is accessible as clean drinking water.

- Stress on freshwater resources has been a result of population increase. When demand outpaces supply of appropriate water, it is said to be "water stressed." According to one research, water scarcity affects almost 40% of the world's population. By 2030, it is expected that this percentage would climb as a result of a 50% increase in worldwide water consumption. Another analyst predicts that by 2025, two-thirds of the world's population would be experiencing water shortages, which he blames on population expansion.

Identify the landmarks on the skull front and back that should be covered by a helmet? posterior head? how far above the eyebrow
NemiM [27]

Protection for the head is needed in cases of direct collision sports like hockey and football. Collisions with another player or the turf may result in a concussion, thus all the helmets must possess NOCSAE certifications.

The helmet should fit comfortably around all the segments of the player's head, there should be no gaps between the head and pads. It should cover the base of the skull, the pads positioned at the back of the neck should be comfortable, and at the same time should not be uncomfortable.

The helmet should not come down over the eyes, the front edge of the helmet should be 3/4 inch or of two finger widths above the eyebrows.

PLEASE HELP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer:

B

Explanation:

So lets go over facts of mieosis and mitosis:

Meiosis is sexual reproduction

Mitosis is asexual reproduction

Meiosis in animals is how they reproduce

Mitosis in animals is how they regenrate their cells

Mitosis copies the orgninal cell.

Meiosis mixes a male and female egg and sperm to form a zygote

Ok, knowing this. We can find our answer.

Since we know meiosis is sexual, and mitosis asexual, we can get rid of C.

We also know that meiosis is in animals, and so is mitosis, so we can get rid of A.

Finally we can get rid of D, since we know due to the male and female genetics(and through the swapping of chromesomes during prophase)that genetic variation occurs in meiosis, but since mitosis copies a single cell, it is not genetically varient.

So the answer must be C, which states that Mitosis has genetically identical cells, while mieosis does not.

Hope this helps! ;)

Why would prokaryotic cells be considered a simple cell when compared to eukaryotic cell?
Ede4ka [16]

Answer:

Prokaryotic cells are more simple and smaller than eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotic cells are structurally more simple because of their small size. It's also defined as the smaller a cell size, the greater is its surface to volume ratio (means surface area of a cell compared to its volume).

In smaller prokaryotic cells, a large surface to volume ratio is present. It means that nutrients can rapidly and easily reach any interior part of the cell.

The large eukaryotic cell have limited surface area as compared to its volume it means that nutrients cannot rapidly reach to all interior parts of the cell, because of that eukaryotic cells are more complex than prokaryotic cells, and they require specialized internal organelles to carry out processes like provide energy, metabolism and transport necessary chemicals throughout the cell.
