The transformation of Mrs. Auld from a kind and kind woman to a cruel slave owner, in Douglass' opinion, was not a simple one.

The little Douglass was first treated with fondness by Mrs. Auld, who basically treated him in the exact same way as her own son, Tommy. Soon, it's become clear that slavery had the power to rob her of these endearing qualities and the early pleasure in her home.

When things were terrible for me, they did not improve at all for my home. When she realized that I was trying to learn how to read, she started acting even more violently than her husband did.

She was determined to adhere to her husband's instructions more precisely rather than simply being satisfied with simply doing what she had been told.

Choose the best way to revise sentence 12 to create parallel structure
nirvana33 [79]

The correct answer is B. I did some of the problems in my head, wrote the last answer, and stopped writing when the bell rang.

Explanation

Sentence # 12 "I did some of the problems in my head, the last answer I wrote, and when the bell rang I stopping writing" needs to be revised because it does not have a parallel structure "did", "wrote" and "stopping". To review this sentence to create a parallel structure it is necessary to change the last verb "stopping" to "stopped" to maintain the parallel structure which establishes one verbal tense. Moreover, the best tense is simple past because the author was talking about an past event. According to the above, the correct answer is B.
