For Ms Hurst:

Distance covered by her = Speed * time taken by her

Given:

Speed of Ms Hurst = 10miles/min

Time taken = 60 mins (since they both ran for 60minutes)

Substitute into the formula

Distance covered by Ms Hurst = 10mil/min * 60min

Distance covered by Ms Hurst = 600 miles

Hence Ms Hurst completed 600 miles

An animal shelter spends $2.35 per day for each cat and $5.50 per day to care for each dog. Pat noticed that the shelter spent $
Nadusha1986 [10]
Lets use the letter C to represent cats and D to represent dogs.

A)     2.35c + 5.50d = 89.50

For B, they give you numbers to plug into your equation.
c = 8
d= 14

B) 2.35(8) + 5.50(14) = 89.50
     18.80 + 77.00 = 95.80

So what Pat said is incorrect because that would mean they spent more than 89.50.

Hope this helps! :)
