Point mutations can show three different types of effects:

 • Base substitutions can be silent mutations in which the changed codons correspond to the same amino acid.
 • Base substitutions can be missense mutations where the changed codon corresponds to a different amino acid.
 • Base substitutions can be nonsense mutations in which the altered codon corresponds to the stop signal.

What are point mutations?

Point mutations are changes to the N base of DNA or RNA. Point mutations are common, but their effects can be mitigated by gene recovery mechanisms.

The cause of this point mutation is due to 4 factors:

 1. Errors during DNA replication by mutagens.
 2. Breaking of oxygen-phosphate bonds.
 3. Substitution of base pairs.
 4. Changes in the number of bases.

Earth has a great variety of surface features that are caused by weathering and erosion. Which of the following describes a chan
Sidana [21]

Answer:

Weathering describes the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on the surface of the Earth. Water, ice, acids, salts, plants, animals, and changes in temperature are all agents of weathering.

Once a rock has been broken down, a process called erosion transports the bits of rock and mineral away. No rock on Earth is hard enough to resist the forces of weathering and erosion. Together, these processes carved landmarks such as the Grand Canyon, in the U.S. state of Arizona. This massive canyon is 446 kilometers (277 miles) long, as much as 29 kilometers (18 miles) wide, and 1,600 meters (1 mile) deep.

Weathering and erosion constantly change the rocky landscape of Earth.

Explain why the cane toad was a failure as a biological control method in Australia.
kakasveta [241]
The cane toad was a failure as a biological control method in Australia because:
-The greyback beetle it was supposed to be eating fed at the top of the sugarcane stalks (which were 6-8 meters in height). Cane toads cannot fly or climb and therefore couldnt feed on the beetles.
-The beetles were out during the daytime, and cane toads feed at night.
-The two species are not seasonally compatible (aren't in the same place at the same time of year).
-The toads needed moist conditions to survive, and so moved away from where they were supposed to be.
-The cane toad eats many native species and often out-competes native species for food and breeding sites, leading to the decline of natives.
-Breeding habits made the cane toads a very invasive species.
