We want to write

$\frac{\sqrt[]{5}+1}{2}$

as decimal, doing it on a calculator we have

$\frac{\sqrt[]{5}+1}{2}=1.61803398875$

But we only need three decimal places, then the result is

$\frac{\sqrt[]{5}+1}{2}=1.618$
