Allison drew a map of where she and her friends live. Allison's house is at point A, and her friends live at points B, C, and D.

She only wrote some of the distances, in blocks, on the map. Also, AD¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ is a perpendicular bisector of BC¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯. Allison wants to know the distance between her house and point C.What is the measure of AC?

Solution:

Given that;

Allison drew a map of where she and her friends live.

Allison's house is at point A, and her friends live at points B, C, and D

Where, line segment AD is a perpendicular bisector of BC,

And a perpendicular bisector is a line segment which bisects another line segment at 90 degrees, and divides it into two equal parts..

Since, AD is a perpendicular bisector of BC, then

\begin{gathered} BD=CD=3 \\ \angle ADB=\angle ADC \\ And,\text{ }AD=CD \\ Thus, \\ \Delta ADB\cong\Delta ADC\text{ \lparen SAS\rparen} \end{gathered}

Hence,

AB=AC=4.24

The measure of AC is 4.24

A train from Portland, Oregon, to Los Angeles, California, travels at an average speed of 60 miles per hour and covers a distanc
seropon [69]

Answer:

The train need to leave Portland at 03:27 am

Step-by-step explanation:

step 1

Find out how long it takes the train to travel from Portland, Oregon, to Los Angeles, California

Remember that

The speed is equal to divide the distance by the time

so

The time is equal to divide the distance by the speed

Let

s ---> the speed in miles per hour

d ---> the distance in miles

t ---> the time in hours

t=\frac{d}{s}

we have

d=963\ mi

s=60\ mi/h

substitute

t=\frac{963}{60}=16.05\ hours

step 2

Adds 30 minutes (time it takes to get from the train station to her aunt's house)

Remember that

30\ minutes=0.50\ hours

16.05+0.50=16.55\ hours

Convert to minutes

16.55\ h=16.55(60)\ min=993\ min

step 3

Remember that

8 p.m=20:00\ hrs

Convert to minutes

20(60)=1,200\ min

Subtract 993 minutes from 1,200 minutes

1,200-993=207\ min

Convert to hours+minutes

207\ min=207/60=3.45\ hours

0.45\ h=0.45(60)=27\ min

so

3\ h+27\ min

00:00 + 03:27=03:27\ am

therefore

The train need to leave Portland at 03:27 am

Given the following perfect square trinomial, fill in the missing term. (Do not type the variable in the blank.)
andreyandreev [35.5K]

a perfect square trinomial has a factor that is identical to the other factor. In this case, from the first term, the factor is composed of 2x while from the third term, there is a term 7 involved. In this case, the factor is 2x + 7. so the second term has to be 2*(2*7) equal to 28
