The impact of high specific heat of water on the environment can be best illustrated as the influence of oceans on the weather and climate.

What is Specific heat?

Specific heat can be defined as the amount of heat which is required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of a substance by 1°C. Water has a high specific heat value which means that it takes more energy to increase the temperature of water compared to other substances.

The resistance property of water to sudden temperature changes makes water an excellent habitat to live in, allowing a number of organisms to survive without experiencing wide temperature fluctuations. Furthermore, because many organisms are mainly composed of water, the property of high heat capacity allows highly regulated internal body temperatures in the organisms.

In case that doesn't make sense to you, I'll provide you with an analogy. You could be provided with 20 different LEGO bricks to work with. While there may only be 20 bricks, these bricks can combine into a vast amount of different formations, structures, etc. Amino Acids work in the same way.

 • The indentation inferolateral to the auricular surface is the greater sciatic notch.

 • The greater sciatic notch is a bony depression (indentation) in the pelvis localized above the ischial spine.

 • The auricular surface of the ilium is an ear-shaped surface that articulates with the sacrum in order to form the sacroiliac joint.
