Kambili finishes school because a private teacher teaches her at the hospital. She lies to the doctors because she doesn't want to go home. Those who visit her are the students who are part of her class at school.

Why doesn't Kambili want to go home?

 • Because she feels insecure there.
 • Because she is oppressed there.
 • Because she suffers abuse there.

Kambili was admitted to the hospital after being beaten by a man who lives inside her house. In addition, she is the victim of many cases of abuse and lives in a constant state of oppression.

This makes her feel uncomfortable at home and she wants to stay in the hospital most of the time because there she is cared for and treated well. For this reason, she lies to the doctors, claiming that she doesn't feel better despite being on the mend.

So that she doesn't miss the school year, she receives a visit from a nun who teaches him. She is also visited by her classmates.

Allisa [31]

The structure of the story builds suspense by making the narrative into a quest.

Explanation:

The narrative uses well tested techniques of building suspense in On a mountain trail by Harry Perry.

The first example one can see is in the beginning when the author describes the particular difficulty of the quest for the top.

Thus starting medias res and then going back to give details.

The second example is that the narrator often employs descriptive passages just before a new development to draw out the moment.

This builds suspense even more in the text.
