The term 'profound' means 'great' in the given passage.

Usually, it is seen that women are attracted to men and become intimate with men. However, the female figure in the given passage did not show any interest in men and became intimate with the ladies in the room.

In earlier times, homosexual relations were not approved of and they were considered to be a disgrace to society. They were not seen in a good light and were harassed by society. Thus, it would have been a matter of great surprise and astonishment to the speaker to see a woman becoming intimate with other women.

The term 'profound' is synonymous with 'great,' 'unequaled,' and 'extreme.' Thus, 'profound astonishment' would mean 'great surprise.'

Is it true that a snake wont die till the sun goes down?
Inessa [10]

There is some truth to this myth backed up by science explanation. A snake’s nervous system will still be functional for approximately 10 to 12 hours after they are pronounced dead. So probably that is where the myth or saying “a snake wont die til the sun goes down” came from. Because 10 to 12 hours is enough time from the morning for the sun to set down, and the nervous system will be completely dysfunctional and only will be then that the snake is truly dead. So the best way to ensure the snake does not bite you or attack you is to kill it, cut off its head and bury it so that its nervous system will be readily dysfunctional.

atroni [7]

Answer:

In many of Shakespeare's works there is a wide variety of troubled moments where the main characters go through emotional circles where they are not sure what to sacrifice. They mostly end up sacrificing so many things in the name of love. For example, In Romeo and Juliet they took their own lives because they were in love and couldn't bare the thought of loosing each other.
