To weaken a federalist attempt to pack the federal courts through late-term appointments authorized by the judiciary act of 1801, president Jefferson ordered commissions for new judges not yet delivered to be withheld.

President Adams appointed federalists to 16 new federal judgeships that were formed by the Judiciary Act of 1801 before he left office. The federalist judges Adams had chosen were known as midnight judges. Thomas Jefferson and other anti-federalists were concerned that a concentration of centralized power may result in the loss of individual and state liberties. They disliked Federalist monetary policies because they thought they benefited the wealthy.

The Judiciary Act of 1801 expanded federal jurisdiction, eliminated Supreme Court justices' circuit court duties, and created 16 federal circuit court judgeships.

The new world order referred to by president george h. w. bush __________.
Liula [17]
The correct answer is it was never really defined

Although George H. W. Bush talked about it and how it was a new era of politics, it was never precisely defined as to what it stands for or what it would deal with or what the order would even be. It was a catchy phrase inspired by various events from the world but what it would be was never truly known or described.

A sales tax is a type of
gavmur [86]

Answer:

A sales tax is a type of indirect tax.

Explanation:

A sales tax is an indirect tax on point-of-purchase consumption for certain goods and services. This type of tax is usually calculated as a percentage of the final price to the consumer and is added to the price (tax-exclusive) or is already included (tax-inclusive).

The sales tax is the responsibility of the final consumer only; any intermediate buyer must produce a resale certificate to clear it and sales taxes are levied on any buyer who can not produce such a document.

The sales tax is set by each state and ranges from 0% (Oregon, Alaska, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Delaware) to 8.75% (California). In some cases, cities or counties also set a sales tax, which is added to the state tax (the maximum rate is applied in some counties in commercial zones of Illinois with 11.5% in total). The national average is about 6%.
