Answer:

The French and Indian War took place in two different scenarios: Europe, between France and England and their allies, and in America, particularly along the British-French border, towards the fork of the Ohio River. The war happened between 1754 and 1763, and while in America it was called the French and Indian War, in Europe it was known as the Seven Years War. It ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The following would be the answers to the questions:

1. A. France and Britain disputed borders in the Ohio River Valley. At the time, there were around 60.000 French colonizers around the area, and 2 million settlers of British descent. They competed for the trading routes and the lands offered near the Ohio River, especially between the French and British border.

2. D. They suffered negative consequences because they lost both their land and their allies. Although at the end of the war the British King issued a proclamation that reserved all lands west of the Appalachians for the First Nations, this was not kept, and British settlers moved to Indian lands without stop. Also, with the removal of their French protectors, the Indians were left to fend for themselves.

3. C. Increased British debt. This was also the case for France. The two nations were hugely indebted after the war.

4. D. Tribes allied with both sides during the war. On the British side the Iroquois, the Cherokee and the Catawba supported colonists against the French, but the majority of the tribes, like the Ottawa, supported the French.

5. D. Spain and Britain. Both of these gained from France. Spain gained Louisiana from the French after loosing Florida to the British, and Cuba was restored in the Treaty of Paris. Also Britain gained Canada and took away most of the French colonies.

Which of the following represents a common thread between the work of Copernicus, Kepler, and Newton? (5 points)
gregori [183]

The correct answer is b.) All three developed progressively more accurate models of our solar system.

Indeed, Copernicus proposed the heliocentric model, placing the Sun as the center of the universe and not Earth, in the 15th century. Kepler discovered the three scientific laws of planetary orbit around the Sun in the 17th century. Newton created the laws of universal gravitation and motion in the 17th century as well, basing a good deal of his research on Kepler’s work.

How was indirect democracy practiced in Athens?
garik1379 [7]

Answer:

hope this helps!

Explanation:

Athenian democracy developed around the 6th century BC in the Greek city-state (known as a polis) of Athens, comprising the city of Athens and the surrounding territory of Attica. Although Athens is the most famous ancient Greek democratic city-state, it was not the only one, nor was it the first; multiple other city-states adopted similar democratic constitutions before Athens.Ober (2015) argues that by the late 4th century BC as many as half of the over one thousand existing Greek city-states might have been democracies.

Athens practiced a political system of legislation and executive bills. Participation was open to adult, male citizens (i.e., not a foreign resident, regardless of how many generations of the family had lived in the city, nor a slave, nor a woman), who "were probably no more than 30 percent of the total adult population".

Solon (in 594 BC), Cleisthenes (in 508–07 BC), and Ephialtes (in 462 BC) contributed to the development of Athenian democracy. Cleisthenes broke up the unlimited power of the nobility by organizing citizens into ten groups based on where they lived, rather than on their wealth. The longest-lasting democratic leader was Pericles. After his death, Athenian democracy was twice briefly interrupted by oligarchic revolutions towards the end of the Peloponnesian War. It was modified somewhat after it was restored under Eucleides; the most detailed accounts of the system are of this fourth-century modification, rather than the Periclean system. Democracy was suppressed by the Macedonians in 322 BC. The Athenian institutions were later revived, but how close they were to a real democracy is debatable.
