Value is the degree of light or dark in artwork. Value actually refers to the contrast between white color and black and also to the tones of color used in between them. It is not always used with black and white colors rather it can also be used with all colors, in general you can say that contrast is the range between lightest values and darkest of them.

Anthropomorphic involves the act of giving the characteristics of humans to other things. This is an imagery used where human characteristics are given to non-living things. I think it is being used since it can depict certain factors in the human life but still being subtle about it. Another reason is that it shows creativity in the work.
