Approximately how many people died during the Rwandan genocide?

C. 800,000.

The Rwandan genocide started when the Rwandan president Juvenal Habyarimana was killed in 1994. This event increased the years-long tension between the Hutus and the Tutsis thanks to the Belgian colonization, which separated the Rwandans' ethnicity.

Officials, gangs, militias, politicians (mostly Hutus), all shared the same goal of achieving power by cleansing the Tutsi population. The Hutu regime slaughtered around 800,000 civilians, most of which were Tutsis.

The killing was ended by the Rwandan Patriotic Front in July 1994 when Kigali was finally taken.

How did the league of nations respond to aggression by japan italy and germany?
hram777 [196]
They didn't. They didn't have the firepower to battle against them because they lacked the support of the United States and they wouldn't fight wars if they weren't important for them. They tried to appease with them but eventually it proved to be a massive failure as the Axis forces eventually attacked and occupied them as well.

Why was thomas paine's common sense important during the movement for independence?
bearhunter [10]

Answer: Thomas Paine published Common Sense. This small pamphlet had a big effect on colonists and moved many Americans to support independence from Great Britain. Colonists were persuaded by the logic of Paine's arguments, which included that the Atlantic Ocean was too wide to allow Britain to rule America as well as an American government could, that it was foolish to think an island could rule a continent, and that the idea of Britain being America's "mother country" made Britain's actions all the worse because no mother would treat her children so badly.
