Answer:

Barney 145 3 Days 310 Miles

Mary   250 5 Days 600 Miles

A)  3 D + 310 M = 145

B) 5 D + 600 M = 250

Multiplying A) by -5/3

A) -5 D - 516.6666M = -241.66666666

B) 5D + 600M = 250

Adding A) and B)

83.3333 M = 8.3333333333

M = .10 per mile

3 D = 114

Daily Rate = 38 dollars per day

I really need to know how long it takes the large pipe on its own
Andreyy89

s = hours it takes the small pipe on its own.

L = hours it takes the large pipe on its own.

we know the small pipe can do it in 11 hours total, so s = 11, so, how much of the whole job has the small done in 1 hour only?

well, if it takes 11 hours to do the whole thing, in 1 hour it has done only 1/11 of the whole job.

we know both pipes working together can do it in 6 hours flat. So in 1 hour only, both of them have done only 1/6 of the whole thing.

in that 1 hour, how much has the large one done? well, it has only done 1/L of the job.

\bf \stackrel{\textit{how much has it been done by both in 1 hour}}{\stackrel{\stackrel{small}{rate}}{\cfrac{1}{s}}+\stackrel{\stackrel{large}{rate}}{\cfrac{1}{L}}~~=~~\stackrel{job}{\cfrac{1}{6}}} \\\\\\ \cfrac{1}{11}+\cfrac{1}{L}=\cfrac{1}{6}\implies \stackrel{\textit{multiplying both sides by }\stackrel{LCD}{66L}}{6L+66=11L}\implies 66=5L \\\\\\ \cfrac{66}{5}=L\implies 13\frac{1}{5}=L\impliedby \textit{13 hours and 12 minutes}

and you can round that up as needed.

PLEASE HELP!!!
nikitadnepr [17]

Answer:

A) The graph shifts 5 units left and 3 units up.

Step-by-step explanation:

For a function f(x) following transformation rules is applied.

f(x-c)\rightarrow shifts function c units to the right.

f(x+c)\rightarrow shifts function c units to the right.

f(x)+b\rightarrow shifts function c units upward.

f(x)-b\rightarrow shifts function c units down upward.

Given function f(x):

f(x)=\frac{1}{x-4}+3

Function  g(x):

g(x)=\frac{1}{x+1}+6

So, to transform f(x) to g(x) we can make changes as

f(x)=\frac{1}{x-4+(5)}+3+(3)=\frac{1}{x+1}+6=g(x)

Comparing the two function we conclude the following transformation taking place:

g(x)=f(x+5)+3

From the above rule stated, we can make a statement about the transformation as following:

The graph shifts 5 units left and 3 units up.

Mike has 2 mats that are in the shape of triangles. The scale factor of the two triangular mats is 7 / 9. What is the ratio of t
sergejj [24]

Answer: the ratio of the perimeters = 7/9

the ratio of the areas = 47/81

Step-by-step explanation:

The scale factor of the two triangular mats is 7 / 9. Expressing it in terms of decimal fraction, it becomes 0.778

Perimeter is the total distance around the triangle. It is determined by simply adding the length of each sides. Therefore it is a linear measurement. Therefore, the ratio of the perimeter of both triangles will remain 7/9 or 0.778

The area of the triangle is not a linear measurement. Determining the area of the triangle involves multiplication of the different lengths by applying the desired formula. The ratio of the areas of both triangles will be (7/9)^2 = 47/81
