How are the sentence patterns for asking questions different from the sentence patterns for making statements?
Sindrei [870]
The answer is B. This includes helping verbs or modals like have, could would and adverbs like who, what, where, when, why and how.
A is not the answer, I like cake vs. What is your name? both are short and statements like this are common.
C is not the answer because we often use pronouns in questions and adjectives are used as descriptions regardless of statement or question. Where is she? What is it? Disprove the pronoun aspect. Is it a blue color? Disproves the adjective aspect.
D is not the answer because of questions of fact like, what time is it? There is no direct or indirect object because the verb is a linking verb, used for a statement, connecting or linking the subject to the fact, without an object.

He stuck his hand into the pouch and felt around for one of the stones. As he did so, both of them pushed through a hole in the pouch and fell to the ground. The boy had never even noticed that there was a hole in his pouch. He knelt down to find Urim and Thummim and put them back in the pouch. But as he saw them lying there on the ground, another phrase came to his mind.

"Learn to recognize omens, and follow them," the old king had said.

Question 7 options:

The stones symbolize the boy’s treasure, reminding him of the great wealth that he will earn.

By symbolizing the boy’s journey and the choices he will make, the stones remind the boy to pay attention to the omens

Answer: In this sentence, the participial phrase is <u>'shining down on me.'</u>

Explanation:

  • Participial phrase is a phrase that begins with present/past participle.
  • Present participle usually ends in -ING, while past participle ends with -ED or, if irregular, is found in the third column.
  • Participial phrase always functions as an adjective, and provides further information about a particular noun from the same sentence.
