Answer:

The hopeful actors agreed to meet in the dressing room before the audition.

Explanation:

An adverbial phrase is a kind of prepositional phrase that functions as an adverb. Therefore, it answers the questions Where? When? How? To what extent? or Why? and can modify a verb.

In this sentence, we have two adverbial phrases.

1. in the dressing room

2. before the audition

They both modify the verb 'to meet'. The first one is answering the question "Where?" The second one is answering the question "When?"

Answer:

the first one

Explanation:

The other sentences contain only noun phrases:

the persistent rain; large, rippling puddles; soggy front lawns (second sentence);

the ongoing delay; the cranky, grumbling audience (third sentence);

the oblivious pedestrian; loud car horns (fourth sentence).

The last sentence also contains a participial phrase, "blaring at him", used as an adjective.

Three (3) asks you to show the similarities and differences between "Barrio Boy" and "A Cub Pilot". Like the first question, you're being asked to explain how the author's experiences affect their writing. I'm sure somewhere in the stories, there are certain things that show why and how authors write the way they do and why they write the things that they do.

How should this sentence be changed?
Monica [59]

Answer:

"Look at this fossil I bought at the gift shop,"

Explanation:

"It," causes the sentence to become a run-on, and therefore isn't grammatically correct. However, if the sentence said, "Look at this fossil I bought at the gift shop," then it would have no need to be changed, as it is a full sentence in itself with no run-on.
