A car seller buys a car from a manufacturer for $8,000. He increases the cost by 6 percent. What is the markup value?
murzikaleks [220]
Mark up value is either a fixed amount or a percentage of the total cost or selling price.

In this problem, mark up value is the percentage of the total cost.

To determine the retail price, total cost and mark up must be added.

Selling Price = Total Cost + Mark up value based on Total Cost

However, we are looking for the Total cost. Thus, our formula should be

Total Cost = Selling Price - Mark up value based on Total Cost.

Let X = total cost.
Selling Price = $8,000
Mark up vale = 6% of total cost.

X = $8,000 - 6%X
X = $8,000 - 0.06X

To get X, transfer -0.06X to the other side and change its sign from negative to positive.

X + 0.06X = $8000
1.06X = $8000

To get X, divide both sides by 1.06

1.06X / 1.06 = $8000 / 1.06

X = $7,547.17
total cost.

The problem is looking for the mark up value and since it states that the mark up value is 6% of the total cost, then:

Total Cost  x  6% = Mark up value

$7,547.17 x  0.06 = $452.83 mark up value

To check:

X + 0.06X = $8000

$7547.17 + $452.83 = $8000
$8000 = $8000 equal.

Suppose the time to process a loan application follows a uniform distribution over the range of 8 to 13 days. What is the probab
Arlecino [84]

Answer: 0.2

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that , the probability density function for uniform distribution is given buy :-

f(x)=\dfrac{1}{b-a}, where x is uniformly distributed in interval [a,b].

Given : The time to process a loan application follows a uniform distribution over the range of 8 to 13 days.

Let x denotes the time to process a loan application.

So the probability distribution function of x for interval[8,13] will be :-

f(x)=\dfrac{1}{13-8}=\dfrac{1}{5}

Now , the probability that a randomly selected loan application takes longer than 12 days to process will be :-

\int^{13}_{12}\ f(x)\ dx\\\\=\int^{13}_{12}\dfrac{1}{5}\ dx\\\\=\dfrac{1}{5}[x]^{13}_{12}\\\\=\dfrac{1}{5}(13-12)=\dfrac{1}{5}=0.2

Hence, the probability that a randomly selected loan application takes longer than 12 days to process = 0.2

DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

  1. Circumference
  2. Area
  3. Circumference

Step-by-step explanation:

Circumference would be if the situation is asking for the amount of something around the edge. For example, the number of tiles to be placed around the swimming pool would be asking for circumference.

Area would be if the situation is asking for the amount of something spread through the entire item. For example, the amount of water total in a swimming pool would be asking for area.

Hope it helps!

A bag of Chocolates is labeled to contain 0.384 pounds of chocolate the actual weight of the chocolate is 0.3798 pounds. How muc
Daniel [21]

Answer:

<u>The actual weight is 1.1% less (100 - 98.9) than the labeled weight.</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Let's review the information given to us to answer the question properly:

Labeled weight of the bag of chocolates = 0.384 pounds

Actual weight of the bag of chocolates = 0.3798 pounds

2.  How much have you or lighter are the chocolates and the stated on the label. Show your reasoning.

Let's find how much we have comparing the labeled weight and the actual weight, using a Direct Rule of Three, this way:

Weight               Percentage

0.384                    100 %

0.3798                      x %

0.384x = 0.3798 * 100

0.384x = 37.98

x = 37.98/0.384

x = 98.9 (Rounding to one decimal place)

<u>The actual weight is 1.1% less (100 - 98.9) than the labeled weight.</u>
