The 1889 World Exhibition was a world's fair that was held in Paris in 1889. This exhibition was held to introduce the public of Paris, and that of Europe in general, to the technological and scientific advances of other regions of the world. It also allowed them to become acquainted with the music, art and culture of faraway regions, such as that of the Middle East and Africa. The fair was held as a way to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the storming of the Bastille.
