Cinco de Mayo, is a conmemoration of the Mexican Army's victory over the French empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5 of 1862, under the leadirship of General Ignacio Zaragoza.

The Marquis de Radepont, was a French Officer and Diplomat for the Emperor Louis Napoleon III, catalyst of the Battle of Puebla. His importance in Cinco de Mayo, is that the Battle of Puebla was actually his idea. He had a plan to take over Mexico, they thought that by taking over Mexico, it would be easier to take later control of America (US).

Marquis de Radepon was the French officer responsible of initiating the Battle of Puebla (the event celebrated in "cinco de mayo"). He advised the Emperor Louis Napoleon III, that by conquering Mexico, French would conquer the rest  of America more easily. The Battle ended in Mexico defeating French, who has the strongest military force at the moment, and in result in one of the most celebrated days in Mexico.
