Answer: Summary below

Explanation:George Steinhauser made an important discovery about bellybutton lint. He was curious and wanted answers, so he began studying his own bellybutton lint.  He discovered that the naval lint contains cotton from clothing, as well as dead skin, sweat, dust, and fat.  His research also helped explain how lint accumulates. As it turned out, the hair on the human stomach acts as small hooks that capture and hold contents within. You may shave your stomach, but the hairs act as a natural way to protect your bellybutton from germs and unwanted objects.

Read this excerpt from A Doll’s House, by Henrik Ibsen.
Step2247 [10]

Remember that stage directions are written into the script of a play, they indicate the actors and everyone reading it, about: the location of a scene, a sound (and where it's comming from), how does a person, place or thing looks, and the psychological or emotional stage of a character.

So the correct answers are:

- Character's action and behaviours: here we can see that Nora pays the Porter, shuts the door, takes off her hat, etc.

- Character's gestures: we can see the directions indicate that Nora laughs to herself.

Week 2 Exercise Exercise 3-1, p. 42 Underline the topic sentence in the following paragraph and cross out any material that does
IrinaK [193]

1. The topic sentence in the passage is underlined as follows: "Quilt making has ... expression for women."

  • The topic sentence discusses the role of quilt making in enabling women to self-express themselves.

2. The material that does not clarify or develop the central idea is: "They used dyed cotton fabrics ...; surprisingly, ... years."

  • This statement has no relevance to the topic sentence.  It digresses from the main topic to discuss the materials used for quilting instead of concentrating on the social, political, and artistic significance that quilting generates for women, as captured in the topic sentence.

Thus, the topic sentence captures the main idea of the passage.  Other sentences help to develop and support the main idea.

Think about the people in your life and how they've changed over time. Write an essay explaining whether or not people change. P
PSYCHO15rus [73]

People do change.  Life experiences and maturity change people.  If anyone thinks back to what he was like at eighteen and what he is like at thirty, it would be miracle if changes had not been made in his personality and behaviour.

There are so many events in a person's life that will alter his behaviour and even his/her way of looking at things: marriage, children, jobs, parents' deaths, money problems, divorce, health problems. All of these occurrences will alter the way a person acts and thinks.

Every stage of a person's life will bring different attitudes and changes in what a person does.  Sometimes, the changes are for the better. There are instances when a person becomes bitter as he ages. As a person ages, his priorities change. Health issues move to the forefront. Health insurance and doctors become a part of life.

The point is that everyone changes as life events occur. No one stays the same.
