A survey found that 78% of students do their homework before 10:00 predict how many students out 975 do their homework before 10
GenaCL600 [577]
Hi Zahra, I've found a very simple and effective way of calculating percentages. 78% refers to 78 out of every 100, which can also be written as "0.78". Now, we can simply multiply 0.78 by your number (975) to get 760.5 students. Obviously, there isn't a half a student, so we round that number up to 761. So 761 out of 975 students do their homework before 10:00.

KonstantinChe [14]
To explain how these values are related, take the second value (625) and multiply it by 1/100, or in decimal form, 0.01. This is the equivalent of moving the decimal point two spaces to the left, which will give a result of 6.25. (625 * 0.01 = 6.25). This shows that the two values are 100 times different than each other.

At the movie theatre, child admission is $5.50 and adult admission is $8.90. On Friday four times as many adults tickets as chil
scoray [572]

Answer:

You can use grouping, quantity and value to solve this question.

Child admission = $5.50

Adult admission = $8.90

Friday sales (Quantity):

Child = x

Adult = 4x

Total sales = 5x

Friday sales (Value):

Child = $5.50

Adult = 4 × $8.90

         = $35.60

Total sales = $986.40

1 group = $5.50 + $35.60

            = $41.10

Number of groups = $986.40 ÷ $41.10

                               = 24

The number of child tickets sold is 24.
