During the Mexican-American War, the forces of the United States, under the leadership of General Winfield Scott, entered the Mexico city. However, the Mexicans messed with the U.S. forces in the city of Vera Cruz, the U.S. soldiers did not lose a single life and reached the beach in the same number they came.

By 29th March 1847, the forces of Scott was able to establish their control over Vera Cruz and its major fortress. The forces moved on with a pace towards the capital of Mexico. In February 1848, a peace treaty "the  Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo" was signed between the U.S. and Mexico.
