Answer:

False. SQRW does not increase reading speed.

Explanation:

SQRW stands for Survey, Question, Reading and Writing. SQRW is a four-step strategy for reading and note-taking from a chapter in a material to be read. The SQRW strategy does not make for faster reading abilities, rather it makes for a more efficient reading ability The four steps include:

  1. Survey: This involves taking a quick broad glance at the chapter to be read, including the title, introduction, headings, images, summary or conclusion. It helps one to recall previous knowledge on the topic and prepares one for new learning.
  2. Question: As one reads, questions are formed in the mind, this helps the reader to stay focused, and gives the reader a purpose for the reading. It is helpful to turn each heading into a question
  3. Read: The information following each heading is read, to find out the answers to the questions formed earlier for each head
  4. Write: Each question and its answer are written down and reread to be sure that each answer is legible and contains all the important information needed to answer the question.

Which statements correctly describe the process of countercurrent exchange in fish gills? Choose all that apply. Check All That
Elenna [48]

The correct statement regarding the counter current exchange in fish gills are It is a very efficient way to capture oxygen from water, Water flows across the lamellae in the opposite direction of blood flow, Oxygen diffuses into the capillaries across the lamellae, because even as oxygen is depleted, it is still at higher concentration than in the Inflowing blood

Gills are used by fish to exchange gas. Gills have a lot of folds, which increases their surface area. They can extract oxygen at a rate that is three times faster than that of a human because the water flows past their gills in the opposite direction from the blood (this is known as countercurrent flow). Blood always flows close to water that has given up less oxygen due to the fact that it moves in the opposite direction of the water. In this manner, the blood is able to take in more and more oxygen as it flows. Even as the blood, which is about 80% oxygenated, travels to the lamella's conclusion, it passes water, which is at the lamella's beginning and is 90% oxygenated.Even as the blood, which is around 80% oxygen-saturated, approaches the lamella's end, it is passing water, which is 90–100% oxygen-saturated at the lamella's beginning. Because there is still a concentration gradient, the blood can continue to receive oxygen from the water even after it is highly saturated and has passed through most of the lamellae.

Water is one of the most powerful forces on Earth. How does the example shown here illustrate the theory of uniformitarianism?
Solnce55 [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

The theory of uniformatrianism was proposed by James Hutton, a Scottish Geologist by profession.

This theory was a contrast proponent to the tenets of the theory of catastrophism in existence before then in the scientific circles

The theory states that "the present is the key to the past and geologic processes occurring today have happened in the times past".

  • The theory correlates geologic processes as continuous in nature rather can punctuated situations.
  • Erosion occurring today has been changing the land surface on earth as far back into the geologic times and periods.
  • From the image, the erosional activities are still continuing today.
