Ethiopia has a great diversity in religion. Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity is followed by more than 40% of the population and Islam by another 30%. Protestants make up about 10% of the total. There are also the Roman Catholics and the followers of the native religions. This religious freedom allowed the country to remain united, despite the conflicts established with other societies.
