An outline gives one the mean to organize one's thoughts and ideas when one is preparing to write a paper or give a speech. The outline typically include all the main and supporting ideas for a topic. There are two types of outlines, topic outline and sentence outline. A topic outline gives a quick overview of the topics that will be treated in an essay while in sentence outline the thesis and the topic sentence are written out in full.
