Both petroleum and coal are made up of complex carbon-based molecules, and both originated with living creatures of some kind. B

I don't know if this is correct but I would choose B) distinguish between fact and opinion. The reason is because an editorial writer is supposed to make sure everything is fact and accurate, and they are supposed to record information faithfully. On the other hand, reporters tend to twist peoples words and make events seem bigger than what really happened.
