1. ANSWER: Outlining. Synthesizing your information means compiling all your sources and merging them into one. Out of all the options, outlining would defeat the process since you only aim to bring everything together and you are not trying to summarize each information that you have.

2. ANSWER: Merging together. As stated earlier, synthesizing your information means combining all of them into one. The textbook definition of synthesis will also be the same as this even though the context is not about information.

As long as you synthesize = you are trying to combine many things into a whole.

3. ANSWER: True. A working thesis absolutely needs your opinion on it since it should be the part where you establish the argument or analysis you are trying to assert and what your position is regarding your topic. This will set the direction of your paper, and your paper needs to have a stand to work.

4. ANSWER: Shorter. Comparative forms are forms of adjectives that commonly end in -er except for some rare cases where the adjective has three or more syllables or the adjective is irregular.

In this case, though, short is just a regular two-syllable word so its comparative form would just have the suffix -er added to it.

5. ANSWER: Nuttiest. The superlative form of adjectives, meanwhile, just have the suffix -est added to the end of the words except if it is irregular or has two syllables that do not end in y.

Nutty is a two-syllable adjective; however, it ends in y so we just simply need to replace y with i (for easier spelling) and then add the suffix -est to form nuttiest.
