Look at 4 km and 4,000 m.  Recall that 1 km = 1000 m.  Thus, 4 km = 4000 m.
So 4 km and 4,000 m are equivalent.

Look at 3 lb and 48 oz.  Note that  16 oz = 1 lb, and so 48 oz = 3 lb.

3 lb and 48 oz. are equivalent.

2. 12 kg = 12,000 g
3. 3 lb = 48 oz.
